The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) developed on the frontiers of America during the period known as the Second Great Awakening (1787-1825). Those early Disciples believed that Jesus was the Christ, and looked to the Bible as the center of the church’s beliefs. They also believed that each person had the responsibility to study and understand the scriptures. The scriptures were clear and understandable, they believed, for those who studied them seriously and with minds open to the leading of the Spirit of God.
Many people who visit our church are coming from other faith traditions or denominations. We have developed four courses as an introduction to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), our beliefs, and spiritual development. These courses are offered throughout the year and provide a basic introduction for those who want more detailed information.
